Multi-Agency Crackdown Nets Drug Suspects in Kiambu, Murang’a and Nyeri

Multi-agency security teams have intensified the nationwide crackdown on narcotic drugs and illicit brews, leading to the arrest of several suspects in coordinated operations across Kiambu, Murang’a and Nyeri counties.

In Kiambu County, police officers from Mwihoko Police Station conducted a targeted operation in the 160 Area, where three suspects were arrested after they were allegedly found in possession of more than 60 rolls of bhang.

In a separate operation in Murang’a County, a joint team comprising officers from the National Government Administration Officers (NGAO) and Kaweru Police Station arrested one suspect in the Kamama area. The arrest followed an intelligence-led patrol during which officers recovered a black bag containing a substance suspected to be cannabis sativa.

Meanwhile, in Nyeri County, police officers conducting an operation in Naromoru Town arrested another suspect who was allegedly found in possession of several rolls of bhang.

The National Police Service (NPS) said the operations underscore the effectiveness of the multi-agency approach in combating drug trafficking and the manufacture and distribution of illicit brews.

According to the service, close collaboration between the NPS, the National Government Administration Officers and other security agencies has strengthened intelligence sharing, improved coordination and enhanced the ability of law enforcement officers to respond swiftly to criminal activities.

The police reiterated their commitment to working with other security agencies and members of the public to dismantle drug trafficking networks and curb the spread of illicit brews across the country.

The latest operations form part of the ongoing nationwide campaign targeting the production, distribution and sale of illegal drugs and illicit alcohol.
