In a multi-agency operation on Friday April 10, officers successfully blocked the trailer after receiving intelligence that it was ferrying illicit alcohol.

“The operation involved the pursuit of a suspicious trailer believed to be ferrying illicit goods. Upon interception, officers carried out a thorough search of the vehicle and confirmed that it was transporting ethanol without valid documentation,” National Police Service said.

During the inspection, authorities recovered a total of 76 plastic containers, each with a capacity of 250 litres. NPS reported that total volume of ethanol seized amounted to approximately 18,500 litres, worth an estimated street value of KSh 22,200,000.

The suspects are currently in custody pending arraignment. The trailer was escorted to and secured at Adungosi Police Station as investigations continue.

The National Police Service reiterated its commitment to disrupting illegal activities, protecting legitimate trade, and safeguarding the public from illicit substances.
