President Ruto appoints Bishop Kepha Nyamweya as NCIC chairperson

President William Ruto has nominated Bishop Kepha Nyamweya Omae as the Chairperson of the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC).

In a public notice issued on Friday April 10, 2026 by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, Bishop Nyamweya will work alongside seven members.

“His Excellency the President has this morning caused nominations to the ranks of the membership of the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC). These nominations are made in accordance with the recommendations of the Selection Panel appointed to recruit and recommend suitable candidates for appointment to the Commission,” the notice read in part.

Koskei stated that the names have been forwarded to the National Assembly for parliamentary vetting and approval.

“In light of the Commission’s consequential mandate to foster national cohesion and unity as well as advance peaceful coexistence by confronting ethnic discrimination and hate speech, the Head of State and Government urges the National Assembly to accord these nominations consideration on a priority basis,” it added.

The nominees include Josphine Kirion Eragae, Joseph K. Nguyo, Jackson Swadi Kedogo, Samuel Mwachiro Mwawasi, Irene Chepoisho Tulel, Hassan Billow Ahmed, and Jerusah Mwaathime Michael. They will serve as members of the Commission as the country gears for the political season.

Bishop Kepha Nyamweya Omae is a prominent Kenyan clergyman since 1984, serving as the senior pastor of RGC Liberty Christian Centre-Nairobi and a former presiding bishop of the Redeemed Gospel Church (RGC).

He is also the founding chairman of the Kenya Coalition of Church Alliances and Ministries (KCCAM) and has served as the Vice Chairman of the Evangelical Alliance of Kenya (EAK).
