Suspected drug dealer arrested in Butere, 155kg of cannabis seized

Law Enforcement Officers in Butere Sub-County, Kakamega County have arrested a notorious drug dealer, recovering a substantial haul of cannabis sativa his house in Butere.

Acting on a tip-off, security officers raided the homestead of one Dennis Obera in Ebushitinji village, within Lunza Division.

Authorities said Obera’s remote location did not shield him from arrest, noting that there is no safe haven for individuals involved in illicit drug trade.

“While Obera may have thought his remote location provided a safe haven for his illicit trade, he learned the hard way that there is no hiding place for those who poison our society,” police said.

Upon conducting a search of the suspect’s premises, officers recovered five massive bags of the prohibited herb. The seized narcotics weighed 155 kilogrammes when placed on the scales.

Obera was promptly escorted to Butere Police Station, where he is undergoing processing pending arraignment. Meanwhile, the recovered narcotics are being detained as exhibits.

Police have urged members of the public with relevant information to report anonymously via the toll-free line 0800 722 203 or WhatsApp number 0709 570 000.
