President William Ruto is expected to speak before the Tanzanian Parliament on May 5, 2026, at 11 a.m., Tanzanian National Assembly Deputy Speaker Daniel Sillo has confirmed.

Deputy Speaker Sillo said the event is aimed at strengthening cooperation and brotherhood between Tanzania and Kenya.
The address, which was also confirmed on Wednesday by a senior State House official, will see the Head of State engage Tanzanian lawmakers on a range of bilateral, regional, and continental issues, in what is expected to underscore growing diplomatic and economic ties between the two neighbouring countries.
While confirming the visit on Wednesday, April 29, Deputy Speaker Sillo urged Tanzanian lawmakers to attend the event in large numbers.
“Honourable MPs, I would like to inform you that on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, His Excellency William Ruto, the President of the Republic of Kenya, will address this House. The event will also be a State of the Nation address,” Sillo announced.
In May 5, 2021, Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan addressed a joint sitting of Kenya’s bicameral Parliament (National Assembly and Senate) during her two-day state visit, becoming the second Tanzanian president to address the Kenyan Parliament, following Jakaya Kikwete in 2015.
Delivered in Swahili, the speech highlighted regional unity and collaborative development, marking her first visit to Kenya as head of state.
