Police in Kieni East Sub-County have arrested several suspects and recovered a large haul of cannabis sativa following a raid on a shop and a residential house in Ichuga Trading Centre.

Acting on a tip-off from a member of the public, officers from Gakawa Police Station stormed a shop suspected to be selling the narcotic, where they recovered 92 rolls of cannabis concealed inside a chocolate packet hidden under the counter.
The shop owner and another individual found on the premises were immediately arrested.
During interrogation, the shop owner led officers to his rented house, where a third suspect was found allegedly in the act of preparing cannabis rolls.
A subsequent search of the house led to the recovery of an additional 692 rolls, bringing the total seized to 784 rolls of cannabis sativa.
Police also recovered about 21 kilograms of unprocessed cannabis, five mobile phones suspected to have been used in drug transactions, and assorted rolling equipment believed to be used in packaging and distributing the substance.
The suspects are currently in police custody pending arraignment, as the National Police Service continues its crackdown on narcotics trafficking in the region.
