‘War on drugs will not succeed with barons sitting in cabinet,’ Gachagua says.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has yet again hit out at President Ruto claiming that he appointed two drug barons to sit in his Cabinet.

Gachagua who was speaking during a church service in Ol Jorook, Nyandarua County, on Sunday, said that the war on drugs will not succeed with two leaders involved in drug trafficking business, sitting in the Cabinet.

“When I left the government, Ruto brought two drug barons into his Cabinet as Cabinet Secretaries. How do you expect the fight against drugs to be won? It cannot. Our youth are left in God’s protection,” Gachagua told the congregants.

He added: “Now, Kenya is the only country in the world where drug barons selling drugs sit in the Cabinet.”

The former DP also asserted that during his tenure as deputy president, he championed efforts to alienate youths in Mt Kenya region from the illicit brew.

He maintained that the Ruto led administration have since thrashed his efforts with an upsurge in consumption of illicit alcohol witnessed in the region.

“Ruto does not wish us well. He is the one authorizing the return of illicit alcohol back here so that it continues destroying our young men,” he claimed adding that the community was at risk of being destroyed.In a bid to depopularize President Ruto in the region, Gachagua called on them to cut ties with the ruling party and vowed to provide political direction, that would see the community occupy the next government.
