Police have arrested a 40-year-old Ugandan national in connection with a drug trafficking incident after detectives intercepted a truck carrying a stash of cannabis sativa along the Longonot stretch of the Maai Mahiu–Naivasha highway.

According to authorities from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) and the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU), the suspect was apprehended following an intelligence-led operation that led officers to set up an ambush on the busy highway corridor.
The team intercepted a Scania truck, registration number UBN 042, which was promptly searched at the scene.
“A swift and thorough search of the vehicle uncovered three bales of cannabis sativa, which had been carefully concealed within the cabin and toolbox compartments,” the Directorate of Criminal Investigations said.
The driver, identified as Daniel Musubo, was arrested on the spot and taken into custody for processing.
The truck, together with the recovered narcotics, was escorted to Muthaiga Police Station, where it remains held as an exhibit as investigations continue.
Police say the suspect is expected to be arraigned in court once preliminary investigations are completed, as authorities intensify efforts to dismantle cross-border drug trafficking networks operating along major transport routes.
