Tanzanian MP says Kenyans made right choice electing Ruto in 2022

Tanzanian Members of Parliament have showered President William Ruto with praise following his historic address to the Parliament on Tuesday May 5, 2026.

Speaking on the floor of the Tanzanian parliament, one of the lawmakers, Emmanuel Kingu, said Kenyans made the right choice in electing President William Ruto in 2022.

MP Kingu further expressed confidence that Ruto will secure re-election in the 2027 general elections.

“I am convinced beyond reasonable doubt that Kenyans did not make a mistake in electing Ruto in 2022.. Our borders cannot divide us. Tell Kenyans we take them as our brothers and sisters and we will continue to support you,” stated Ikungi West MP Emmanuel Kingu.

“You have chosen to believe in our President Samia Suluhu Hassan. Who are we not to pray for you so that you can win the next general elections?” he added, in remarks directed at President Ruto.

The legislator proceeded to cite a Bible verse addressed to Ruto, invoking prayers for the Head of State ahead of the 2027 polls.

The comments followed an address by President Ruto to Tanzania’s Parliament, during which he commended President Samia Suluhu Hassan after her election in October 2025.

Ruto began a two-day State visit to Tanzania on Monday, May 4, aimed at strengthening diplomatic and trade relations between the two nations.

He becomes the second foreign Head of State to address the Tanzanian Parliament since independence, following Kenya’s second President, the late Daniel arap Moi, who did so in 2002.
