Police arrest individual suspected of drug trafficking at Umoja 1 Market in Buruburu.

Police officers from the Nairobi region have nabbed a suspect in connection to drug peddling, in Umoja 1 market, Buruburu Sub-County.

The National Police Service (NPS), through a statement released on Tuesday October 14, revealed that the suspect was apprehended in possession of a large quantity of cannabis.

According to NPS, officers seized approximately 20 kilograms of unprocessed cannabis, along with 3,000 prepared rolls and 33 packaged bundles of the substance.

The authorities confirmed that the drugs have been retained as evidence and the suspect remains in custody pending arraignment.

“This operation is part of the National Police Service’s sustained efforts to curb the distribution and abuse of narcotics within the city and across the country,” NPS said.

NPS further lauded officers involved in the operation and their commitment to the fight against drugs and illicit alcohol.

In a separate operation, officers from Timboroa police station, nabbed a suspect and recovered cannabis worth Ksh2 million in Timboroa, Baringo County.

The officers who were acting on an intelligence, intercepted a metallic grey Toyota Noah, on the Eldoret – Nakuru highway, suspected of transporting cannabis.

A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of four sacks containing 759 bundles of cannabis.

The suspect is in custody awaiting processing and arraignment in court.
