Multi-Agency Crackdown Across the Country Yields Major Seizures of Illicit Brews and Narcotics

Recent coordinated multi-agency operations across several counties have led to significant seizures of illicit brews and narcotics, as authorities intensify efforts to dismantle illegal supply networks and curb substance abuse.

In a statement issued by the National Police Service, the crackdown was conducted in counties including Meru, Bungoma, Nyamira, Kiambu, Murang’a and Nairobi.

In Meru County, a targeted operation in Kaguma area of Gaitu East Location, Imenti Central Sub-County, has led to the seizure of approximately 1,700 litres of illicit brew (mugacha).

One suspect was arrested during the operation and taken into custody at Gaitu Police Station, where he is being held pending arraignment.

In Bungoma County, police conducted multiple raids across different locations. In Chemogee Sub-location, officers arrested one suspect and recovered 20 litres of busaa.

In a separate operation in Mayanya Vitunguu, carried out with the support of National Government Administration Officers, seven suspects were arrested, with 6,430 litres of kangara and 62 litres of chang’aa seized.

In Nyamira County, a multi-agency team raided Miti Mbili Village and arrested two suspects. Officers recovered 20 litres of a substance suspected to be chang’aa stored in a yellow jerrican.

In Kiambu County, police on mobile patrol arrested a suspect found in possession of 24 rolls of cannabis, alongside rolling papers and other items believed to be used in distribution.

In Murang’a County, officers from Kabati Police Station recovered 35 rolls of cannabis sativa. The suspect was arrested, processed, and charged, while exhibits were secured for analysis by the Government Chemist.

In the Nairobi area, one suspect was arrested with 80 rolls of bhang, highlighting ongoing efforts to disrupt narcotics distribution in urban centres.

Authorities say the coordinated operations underscore the scale of the illicit drug trade while reaffirming their commitment to sustained enforcement and community safety across the country.
