Motorists using Waiyaki Way (A8 Road) have been notified of a temporary partial closure of a section of the road to allow for maintenance works.

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) said the closure will affect the Mombasa-bound lanes between GTC and Kempinski, with the restriction set to take effect from Friday, July 31, 2026, until Monday, August 31, 2026.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) notifies the public that a section of Waiyaki Way (A8 Road) between GTC and Kempinski on the Mombasa bound lanes will be partially closed temporarily from Friday, July 31, 2026 to Monday, August 31, 2026,” KeNHA said in a notice.
“This closure is to allow for highway maintenance works on the road section,” the authority added.
According to KeNHA, the temporary closure is necessary to facilitate highway maintenance works along the affected section.
KeNHA further advised motorists intending to use Waiyaki Way during the period have been to use the available open sections of the road and consider alternative routes to minimise traffic disruptions.
The authority has also urged drivers to follow the approved traffic management plan and cooperate with police officers and traffic marshals deployed at the site.
Normal traffic operations are expected to resume once the works are completed.
