Former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has responded sharply to remarks made by DCP Party leader Rigathi Gachagua regarding the recently concluded Africa Forward Summit.

In a post shared on X platform, Moses Kuria accused Gachagua of failing to support national interests arguing that hosting an international event of the summit’s magnitude was a moment of pride for Kenya regardless of political differences.
“The timimg and flavour of Rigathi Gachagua’s comments on the Africa Forward Summit is further proof of a leader who does not care for this great nation,” Kuria said.
“We may have our local differences but for Kenya to host an event of this magnitude is something that all well meaning Kenyans should be proud of,” he added.
He maintained that patriotic Kenyans should celebrate the country’s ability to host major continental and international events.
The former CS further mentioned Gachagua’s diplomatic engagement since leaving office, challenging him to provide evidence of meetings with international diplomats while serving as an opposition leader.
“By the way I challenge Rigathi Gachagua to post even one photo of him meeting any diplomat as an opposition leader,” said Kuria.
“Which leader of opposition can go for almost 2 years without meeting the international community?”
He further accused Gachagua of pursuing divisive politics, claiming the former deputy president was positioning himself as “a village tyrant suicidally determined to lead a cult, not a nation.”
Rigathi Gachagua, during a presser on May 12, 2026, launched an attack on President Emmanuel Macron, claiming that funds, reportedly drawn from the fuel levy meant for road maintenance, were used to compensate French contractors after President William Ruto’s administration cancelled an earlier Ksh159 billion deal and handed the project to Chinese contractor China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC).
“To President Emmanuel Macron from France, it is important we let you know why Kenyans made noise to you at the University of Nairobi, Taifa Hall,” Gachagua stated.
“It wasn’t because of disrespect or hatred; they had a message for you. That the taxpayers’ money has been used and wired to French firms to the tune of Kenya Shillings 7 billion, as their children are not in school and they have no food on the table.”
