Major Traffic Disruptions Expected in Nairobi During Africa Forward Summit

The National Police Service (NPS) has announced temporary traffic disruptions and road closures in Nairobi ahead of the upcoming African Forward Summit 2026 scheduled to take place from May 10 to 12, 2026.

In a public notice issued on Sunday, police said the measures are intended to enhance security and ensure smooth management of the high-level summit.

Motorists should expect traffic disruptions along major routes including Mombasa Road, Lang’ata Road, Thika Road, Limuru Road, Kiambu Road, and within the Nairobi Central Business District.

“To ensure public safety and the smooth management of the African Forward Summit 2026, scheduled to take place from 10th to 12th May 2026 in Nairobi, the National Police Service hereby notifies the public of temporary traffic disruption along Mombasa Road, Langata Road, Thika Road, Limuru Road, Kiambu Road, and within the Nairobi Central Business District,” NPS stated.

Police further announced that beginning midnight on Monday, May 11, several roads around the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) will be closed to all vehicles except those accredited for the conference.

The affected roads include; City Hall Way, Parliament Road, Harambee Avenue and Taifa Road.

The National Police Service said it is working closely with other agencies to ensure smooth traffic flow and the successful hosting of the summit.

Motorists have also been urged to exercise patience, obey traffic regulations, and follow directions issued by officers deployed along the affected routes.

Authorities also warned that strict action will be taken against individuals found violating traffic rules during the period.
