Gachagua Criticises Slow Probe Into Killing of PCEA Pastor in Nakuru

Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has criticised the government over what he described as a slow response to the killing of Reverend Julius Ndumia, a minister at the PCEA church in Nakuru County.

Speaking during a memorial service for the late cleric at PCEA Macedonia Church in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County, Gachagua said church leaders and worshippers were increasingly feeling unsafe due to rising attacks targeting religious institutions.

The former Deputy President accused the government of failing to act quickly to arrest those behind the murder and warned that continued silence from authorities could encourage more attacks on clergy members.

“The government is neglecting the concerns of the church and this amounts to several unresolved incidents involving attacks on places of worship,”said Gachangua .

He said church leaders would seek a meeting with the Inspector General of Police to demand justice over the killing, adding that they would consider further action if no progress is made.

The DCP leader also called on police to allow the church to release CCTV footage captured during the incident so that members of the public could help identify the attackers.

Other leaders who attended the memorial service, including Onesmus Ngogoyo and Seki Ole Lenku, also urged the government to speed up investigations and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

The killing of Reverend Julius Ndumia has continued to draw concern from political and religious leaders, with calls growing for improved security for clergy and places of worship.
