The KRA Board, in a statement dated April 8, 2026, cited a leadership transition as the reason for the move, appointing Dr. Lilian Nyawanda to replace him.

“The Board commended Wattanga for his service, stating that he played a key role in advancing the Authority’s mandate and was instrumental in organizational restructuring reform,” the statement read.

Wattanga, who took office on August 22, 2023, brought expertise in investment banking and revenue allocation.

He previously served as Managing Director of Meghraj Capital Group and Commissioner and Vice Chair of the Commission on Revenue Allocation.

“The Authority remains committed to discharging its mandate effectively and efficiently in the public interest,” the Board stated.

The leadership transition is part of KRA’s efforts to ensure continuity and stability in tax administration.
