The Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA) has officially changed its name to Technopolis Development Authority following the enactment of the Technopolis Act, 2026.

In a statement released by KoTDA on June 18, the Authority said the change took effect after President William Ruto assented to the Technopolis Act, 2026 on May 11, 2026. The law was subsequently published in Kenya Gazette Supplement No. 120 on May 15, 2026.
According to the Authority, the renaming reflects its expanded mandate under the new legal framework established by the Act.
“Following the Presidential assent to the Technopolis Act, 2026 (No.13 of 2026) on 11th May 2026 and its subsequent publication in Kenya Gazette Supplement No. 120 dated 15th May 2026, we wish to notify the public that the name of Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA) has officially changed to Technopolis Development Authority,” stated the notice in part.
The Authority clarified that the change in name will not affect its existing obligations, assets, liabilities, operations or contractual relationships with investors, customers, tenants, partners and other stakeholders.
It further noted that all references to Konza Technopolis Development Authority in official documents, correspondence, contracts and other engagements should now be construed as referring to the Technopolis Development Authority.
“The change of name takes effect pursuant to the provisions of the Act and reflects the Authority’s expanded mandate under the new legal framework,” the notice stated.
The Authority also said it remains committed to delivering its mandate and supporting the growth of Kenya’s technopolis ecosystem despite the rebranding.
Its headquarters will remain at Konza Technopolis along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway.
“The Authority remains committed to delivering its mandate and serving stakeholders with excellence as it advances the development of Kenya’s technopolis ecosystem.”
The renaming marks a significant milestone in the evolution of the institution as it seeks to play a broader role in driving innovation, technology and smart city development across Kenya.
