Kenyans and foreign tourists visiting museums and heritage sites across the country will now pay higher entry fees following the introduction of new charges by the National Museums of Kenya (NMK).

The revised rates, which took effect on Wednesday, May 6, were introduced under Legal Notice No. 79 of 2025 through the National Museums and Heritage (Admissions Fees) Regulations, 2025.
The changes affect admission charges for museums, monuments, heritage sites and historical attractions managed by the National Museums of Kenya.
Under the new pricing structure, Kenyan and East African citizens visiting the Nairobi National Museum will pay Sh350 for adults, up from Sh200, while children will now pay Sh200 from the previous Sh100.
Residents from the rest of Africa will pay $9 (about Sh1,163) for adults and $6 (about Sh775) for children, replacing the earlier charges of Sh600 and Sh400 respectively.
Foreign visitors from outside Africa will now pay $18 (about Sh2,326) for adults, compared to the previous Sh1,200, while children will pay $9 (about Sh1,163), up from Sh600.
The Snake Park has also recorded higher charges under the new regulations.
Kenyan adults will now pay Sh350 from the previous Sh200, while children’s fees have increased from Sh100 to Sh200.
“Visitors from the rest of Africa will pay $6 (about Sh775) for adults and $3 (about Sh388) for children. Foreign tourists from outside Africa will pay $18 (about Sh2,326) for adults and $9 (about Sh1,163) for children,” said NMK.
The combined ticket for Nairobi National Museum and Snake Park has also increased significantly.
Kenyan adults will now pay Sh600, double the previous Sh300 charge, while children will pay Sh300 from Sh150.
Visitors from the rest of Africa will pay $15 (about Sh1,938) for adults and $10 (about Sh1,292) for children.
Foreign tourists from outside Africa will now pay $25 (about Sh3,230) for adults, up from Sh1,500, while children will pay $15 (about Sh1,938), compared to the previous Sh1,000.
At the Nairobi Gallery, entry fees for Kenyan adults have risen from Sh150 to Sh300, while children will now pay Sh200 from Sh100.
“Foreign visitors outside Africa will be charged $14 (about Sh1,809) for adults and $7 (about Sh904) for children, up from the previous Sh1,000 and Sh500 respectively,” said NMK .
The National Museums of Kenya said the revised charges are part of the implementation of the National Museums and Heritage (Admissions Fees) Regulations, 2025.
