In a statement, the County Government announced that the incident occurred on Wednesday February 18, 2026, when he (Irungu Kang’ata) reportedly tripped while attending a Nutrition International meeting.

The county acknowledged the outpouring of support from residents, wishing the governor a swift recovery.

“Murang’a County Government appreciates the continued prayers and goodwill from residents and stakeholders. We wish the Governor a speedy recovery.”
