The Kenya Meteorological Department has flagged a wet and stormy week ahead, with rain expected to hit most parts of the country from April 14 to April 20.

“Rainfall is expected over several parts of the country with enhanced intensity over the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi,” the Kenya Met department said in its latest seven-day outlook.
The forecast covers a wide part of the nation, including the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, Rift Valley, Coastal areas, Northeastern Kenya, and the Southeastern lowlands.
Counties on alert for consistent showers include Nandi, Kakamega, Kisumu, Nakuru, Uasin Gishu, Kisii, Nyamira, Narok, and Bungoma. Heavier downpours are likely in Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu and Tharaka Nithi.
Residents should expect grey, cloudy mornings followed by afternoon and night rains that could turn thundery at times.
The department urged people in low-lying and flood-prone zones to stay cautious, warning that roads may become slippery and rivers could swell as the week progresses.
While the rains bring relief to farmers, the weatherman’s advisory is a reminder to plan travel and outdoor activities with care.
The alert runs until Sunday, April 20, with Kenya Met set to issue fresh updates if conditions change.
