DCI Holds High-Level Security Meeting to Tackle Rising Crime Threats

The Director of Criminal Investigations Mohamed I. Amin has convened a high-level security meeting aimed at strengthening national security and intensifying the fight against crime.

The meeting, held at the DCI Headquarters in Nairobi on Wednesday, brought together directors from various directorates, formation commanders, and Regional Criminal Investigations Officers (RCIOs) from across the country.

The discussions focused on reviewing the current security situation and aligning operational priorities with the national security agenda amid growing concerns over emerging criminal threats.

Key issues addressed included the rise of criminal gangs, goonism, money laundering, cyber-enabled crime, and other evolving threats that authorities say could undermine public safety, economic stability, and national security.

Commanders also deliberated on improving intelligence handling and analysis, strengthening inter-agency cooperation, and enhancing intelligence-led investigations to better respond to increasingly sophisticated criminal networks.

During the meeting, regional commanders presented security assessments from their respective jurisdictions, outlining emerging threats, operational challenges, and ongoing interventions. They also tabled strategic response plans aimed at improving prevention, detection, and disruption of criminal activity.

Addressing the commanders, Mohamed I. Amin emphasized the need for vigilance, professionalism, innovation, and accountability in tackling organized crime.

He reaffirmed the DCI’s commitment to intelligence-led operations and the pursuit of offenders “without fear or favour,” urging officers to intensify investigations, optimize resources, and uphold professional standards.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to enhance coordination, operational readiness, and inter-agency collaboration as the DCI seeks to strengthen its capacity to combat crime and uphold the rule of law.
