Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Land Fraud Investigations Unit (LFIU) have arrested 60-year-old David Ndegwa Mwangi over his alleged role in the fraudulent acquisition of land titles for three prime plots in Countryside Villa Estate along Muthaiga Drive.

According to the DCI, each parcel is valued at approximately Sh45 million.
The DCI said the rightful owner reported that Mwangi and his accomplices, who are still at large, attempted to forcefully take over the properties.
The suspects allegedly visited the land and claimed ownership despite the complainant holding genuine title documents.
“Following thorough investigations, the file was forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), which directed that charges be preferred against Mwangi and his accomplices for Fraudulent Procurement of Title,” DCI said.
Mwangi is currently in custody undergoing processing ahead of his arraignment in court, as detectives continue to pursue his accomplices who remain at large.
In a separate case, detectives arrested Abdul Hassan Tahalil, a director of Skyline Works Ltd, for allegedly forging documents in an attempt to unlawfully dispossess a landowner of property valued at Sh25 million.
The complainant told investigators that she purchased the parcel of land in Eastleigh Section One, 4th Street, Nairobi, on December 10, 1966, for Sh56,000.
However, she has recently faced persistent attempts by suspected fraudsters, including Tahalil, to take over the property.
Detectives launched a comprehensive investigation and uncovered evidence linking Skyline Works Ltd and its directors to the alleged fraudulent scheme.
The case file was forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), which, upon review, concurred with investigators’ recommendations to charge Tahalil with the offence of making false documents.
As a result, Abdul Hassan Tahalil was arrested and is currently undergoing processing ahead of his arraignment in court.
The DCI said said it remains committed to protecting property ownership and ensuring that land grabbers and title fraud suspects face the full force of the law.
