Anti-Narcotics Unit Bust Drug Trafficking Ring in Mombasa, Seize Cannabis Worth Sh6 Million

Detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) in Mombasa have dismantled a drug trafficking network, arresting three suspects and recovering cannabis sativa valued at approximately Sh6 million.

The operation was carried out in the Mtopanga area of Mombasa County following a tip-off that led officers to a two-bedroom house allegedly being used for illicit drug activity.

“Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) detectives in Mombasa have dismantled a drug trafficking ring, apprehending three traffickers and seizing cannabis sativa worth Sh6,000, 000 in the streets,” DCI said in a statement.

“The operation unfolded in Mtopanga Area, in Mombasa County, where detectives acted on a tip-off that led them to a two-bedroom house bustling with illicit activity.”

Upon raiding the premises, officers reportedly recovered three sacks of cannabis sativa weighing about 200 kilograms. A Honda motorcycle, registration number KMGA 080F, believed to have been used in the distribution of the drugs, was also seized.

The suspects; Ruth Ayoo Ouko, Peter Juma Kamito, and Dennis Wandera Okuku, were arrested at the scene and taken into custody pending processing and arraignment.

The confiscated drugs were secured as exhibits as investigations continue.

The DCI said the operation highlights ongoing efforts to combat narcotics trafficking through intelligence-led enforcement operations across the country.
