Three suspected robbers linked to a series of violent robberies in Nairobi have been arrested following an intelligence-led operation by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters’ Operation Action Team (OAT).

The suspects, identified as Nimrod Khayeshe, alias Buba, Vangelis Njungi, alias Vangi, and Patrick Kingato, are believed to be members of a criminal gang behind robberies in Westlands and other parts of the city.

According to the DCI, the arrests followed extensive investigations that enabled detectives to trace the suspects’ alleged movements and activities.

Acting on intelligence, officers launched an operation along Ngina Road in Kawangware, where they arrested Khayeshe.

During interrogation, detectives said Khayeshe led them to his alleged accomplices, who were subsequently arrested.

The operation also led to the recovery of a Retay Falcon pistol fitted with a magazine loaded with three rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Detectives further recovered two motorcycles, registration numbers KMGT 497W and KMHG 829H, which investigators believe were used as getaway bikes during the robberies.

The three suspects remain in police custody and are undergoing processing ahead of their arraignment in court. The recovered firearm and motorcycles have been retained as exhibits as investigations continue.

The DCI said the operation reflects its continued use of intelligence-led policing to track down suspects and dismantle criminal networks operating across the country.
