East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Member of Parliament Kanini Kega on Monday alleged that he survived an armed attack after security officers reportedly pursued his convoy and fired at his vehicle, forcing him and his team to flee and seek refuge.

In a video released on social media platforms, the former Kieni MP claimed the incident unfolded as he was travelling, prompting him to run to a nearby home where residents offered him temporary shelter.
“Kenyans, you can see I’m under attack. I’ve been chased by armed police officers. They pointed guns at me. We were only able to escape,” Kega said in the recording.
The legislator further alleged that the incident was an attempt on his life, accusing President William Ruto of being behind the operation.
“Ruto, you are not going to kill us unless you kill all of us. But we are not going to relent,” he said.
“You wanted to kill me over three vehicles. You have even sprayed my vehicle. I am only alive by the grace of God,” he added.
Kega also expressed gratitude to the residents who sheltered him as he sought safety following the alleged attack. “I want to tell Kenyans that I’m temporarily safe in this house,” he added.
The claims come at a time of heightened political tension following violent incidents reported over the weekend in Kisumu and Nyahururu.
As of the time of publication, there had been no official response from the police or the government regarding Kega’s allegations.
The incident is likely to intensify calls for investigations and renewed efforts to safeguard political leaders and supporters as the country’s political climate continues to heat up.
