A new Infotrak opinion poll has placed a Kalonzo Musyoka–Edwin Sifuna presidential ticket at the top of the list of preferred combinations within the United Opposition as political realignments ahead of the 2027 General Election continue to take shape.

The survey found that the proposed ticket bringing together the Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) leader and the Nairobi Senator attracted the highest public support, with 23 per cent of respondents backing the pairing.
The findings suggest that the combination currently enjoys an advantage over several other alliances involving leading opposition figures.
Coming in second was a ticket featuring Kalonzo Musyoka alongside former Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, which received 16 per cent support. A reverse arrangement with Matiang’i as the presidential candidate and Kalonzo as his running mate followed closely after attracting 15 per cent.
The poll also indicated that a proposed alliance between former Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and Democracy for Citizens (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua received the lowest level of support among the leading combinations, recording five per cent.
Beyond preferred running mates, the survey also assessed who respondents would like to see carry the opposition’s presidential flag. Kalonzo Musyoka emerged with a slight lead after receiving 27 per cent support, narrowly ahead of Fred Matiang’i, who polled 26 per cent.
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, who is associated with the Linda Mwananchi faction, ranked third with 19 per cent, while former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua placed fourth after attracting nine per cent support.
The latest findings offer an early snapshot of public opinion as opposition leaders continue consultations over possible political alliances ahead of the 2027 elections.
While the figures highlight current voter preferences, the eventual composition of the opposition ticket is expected to depend on future negotiations and political developments as the election period draws closer.
