Luanda MP Dick Maungu has been elected as the Chairperson of the National Assembly’s Public Investments Committee on Education and Governance, taking over from Bumula MP Jack Wamboka, who was removed from the committee and transferred to the National Cohesion and Equal Opportunities Committee..

His election comes after Jack Wamboka was ejected following bribery allegations presented by National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC).
Following his election, Maungu appreciated Members of the committee for the confidence they placed in him, pledging to serve diligently.
“We are one team, one people, and we shall work together to ensure we achieve our objectives,” he said. Maungu added, “We shall have a plan on how to navigate the backlog and we will strive to be available to discharge our duty.”
Parliament suspended MP Wamboka from the committee leadership in April, pending investigations by the Powers and Privileges Committee into allegations of harassment of witnesses appearing before the committee.
Deputy Speaker Gladys Boss had earlier ruled that Wamboka relinquish his position on the committee, saying the move was necessary to safeguard the integrity of its proceedings and maintain public trust while investigations were underway.
