Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) women’s basketball team continued their strong start to the National Women’s Basketball Premier League season after securing a 69-53 win over Zetech Sparks over the weekend.

The result helped the Dockers maintain their unbeaten run, which now stands at ten matches, keeping them firmly in the title race as the competition progresses.
Head coach Samuel Ocholla acknowledged that his side showed signs of rust following a month away from competitive action, even though the players had maintained fitness during the break.
“Coming off a one-month break, the consistency we had built was lost a bit. The last time we played was almost a month ago. Fitness was not the issue, but match fitness was lacking in that game. All in all, I’m grateful because we managed to play well and collect the two points,” said Ocholla.
Despite the gap in fixtures, KPA managed to control the game and overcome a determined challenge from Zetech Sparks in a match that the coach said was closer than the final score suggested.
The win sees KPA remain second on the standings with 20 points, just one point behind league leaders Stanbic Aces, who have played one more match.
The Dockers have now won all ten of their league games this season, strengthening their push at the top of the table as they continue their campaign.
