Detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) in Mombasa have arrested two suspected drug traffickers and seized 250 kilograms of cannabis sativa in a targeted operation.
Acting on intelligence, officers raided the Port Reitz area of Changamwe, where they apprehended the 43-year-old suspect identified as Tito Paul Mulu.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Tito’s arrest led investigators to an alleged accomplice, 23-year-old Oliver Ochieng, in the Mudengereni area of Kisauni.
“Detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) Mombasa have arrested two traffickers and seized 250 kilograms of cannabis sativa,” DCI stated.
“Acting on credible tips, the detectives descended on 43-year-old Tito Paul Mulu in Port Reitz area of Changamwe. Mulu’s arrest unravelled a tangled web, leading officers directly to his accomplice, 23-year-old Oliver Ochieng, in Mudengereni area of Kisauni,” DCI added.
Police said Ochieng, upon interrogation, directed detectives to his rented house, where a search uncovered two sacks filled with cannabis sativa.
The suspects are currently in custody and are expected to be arraigned in court, while the seized narcotics have been secured as exhibits.
Authorities say the operation highlights the ANU’s continued efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks and curb the spread of illegal substances in coastal communities.
