Nine suspected members of a notorious criminal gang have been arrested following a targeted, intelligence-led security operation in Trans Nzoia West Sub-County.

The operation, conducted by a joint team of officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters and Kitale Police Station, focused on Premium and Tuwani areas, locations that have recently experienced a surge in gang-related activities.

According to police, the officers acted on credible intelligence to launch the coordinated crackdown, successfully apprehending all nine suspects.

Authorities say the arrests mark a significant breakthrough in efforts to curb criminal networks that have been terrorising residents and undermining public order in the area.

The suspects are currently in police custody undergoing processing and are expected to be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.

“Acting swiftly on credible intelligence, the officers swooped in and netted the nine suspects, effectively dismantling a group that has been terrorising residents and disrupting public order,” DCI said.

“The suspects are currently in custody undergoing processing as they await arraignment.”

Police have reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining operations aimed at restoring security and urged members of the public to continue sharing information that could aid in the fight against crime.
