President William Ruto has renewed his call for political unity, extending an invitation to Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka to work with his administration as part of efforts to strengthen national cohesion and accelerate development.

Speaking during a church service at ACK St. Martin’s Cathedral in Kitui County on Sunday, the President defended the formation of the broad-based government, saying it had helped restore stability following the 2024 Gen Z-led anti-tax protests.
He maintained that unity remains essential for the country’s social and economic progress.
“Where there is unity, God commands a blessing. That is to say, where there is unity, God commands a blessing. And that is why I made a commitment to work with everybody, which is why I created a broad-based government to unite all Kenyans,” Ruto said.
The Head of State also appealed to leaders who are yet to join the broad-based arrangement, expressing hope that more political players, including Kalonzo Musyoka, would eventually embrace cooperation for the benefit of the country.
“Of course, you cannot force everyone. There are some who have said they do not want to work together. That is their decision. But my desire and God’s will, as I see it, are to work together, and we will continue to do so. And I am telling the people of Ukambani, this government is your government, and I will give you your rightful share,” he said.
Without mentioning former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua by name, Ruto criticised leaders whom he accused of promoting divisive politics, saying Kenya had moved beyond narratives that sought to separate communities or regions.
“We came here for a thanksgiving service, and you remember the story that was told back then, where it was said by that other person that you do not have votes. Fortunately, God has done what He has done, and we no longer have this talk of ‘shares’. We are one people,” the President stated.
Elsewhere in Meru County, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki urged residents of the Mt. Kenya region to safeguard what he described as a significant opportunity to produce the country’s future president under the current political arrangement.
“Don’t play ping-pong with a chance like this at the Presidency. Just like in football, like in the ongoing World Cup, the best-placed person to score receives the ball, and he puts the ball in the net, and we all celebrate,” Kindiki said.
He argued that the current administration offered the region a clearer path to national leadership than rival political formations.
“In the other formation, this region is not under consideration to take over the Presidency anytime in the near future. But with the one under the stewardship of President Ruto, the fireman is just next to him. Don’t take fruitful chances like this for granted. Do not be deceived, this is the best possible opportunity for us to ascend to the Presidency,”he said.
The President and his deputy also highlighted the National Infrastructure Fund and the Sovereign Wealth Fund as key pillars of the government’s development agenda, saying the initiatives would provide financing for major infrastructure projects across the country.
