President William Ruto has officially commissioned the Ngong Road–Naivasha Road Flyover at Junction Mall, marking its official opening to motorists.

The Head of State commissioned the Ksh. 3.58 billion project undertaken by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) on Monday June 29, 2026, joined by Nairobi Governor Sakaja Johnson, Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir among other leaders.

According to KURA, the 255m, four-lane flyover will ease congestion, improve connectivity, cut travel time, and boost mobility across Nairobi.

KURA also said the overpass would eliminate bottlenecks at the key junction on Ngong Road and cut down travel time for motorists, public transport users, and pedestrians alike. The road project also included inclusion of Non-Motorized Transport (NMT) facilities, ensuring secure travel for pedestrians and cyclists.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, President Ruto said persistent traffic congestion has for years placed a heavy economic and social burden on the city, citing delays for workers, higher operating costs for businesses and reduced productivity.

“For too long, congestion has imposed a heavy cost on our economy and on the daily lives of our people. It has delayed workers on their way to earning a living, increased the cost of doing business, kept traders away from customers and taken precious time away from families,” Ruto said.

The President said the flyover is a strategic investment aimed at improving the efficiency, productivity and competitiveness of the capital city.

He also asserted that the Kenyatta Avenue-Ngong Road Viaduct at All Saints Cathedral will be complete before December this year.
