Police Arrest Two in Migori and Murang’a in Crackdown on Drugs and Illicit Alcohol

Police have arrested two suspects in separate operations targeting illegal drugs and illicit alcohol in Migori and Murang’a counties as security agencies intensify the fight against substance abuse and trafficking.

According to the National Police Service (NPS), officers on patrol in Migori Township conducted a raid in the Pandi area, leading to the arrest of one suspect found with suspected narcotics and illegal alcohol.

“During the operation, officers recovered suspected narcotic substances believed to be cannabis sativa (bhang), including 358 rolls, 30 grams of unprocessed cannabis, seven packets of uncustomed Super Match cigarettes, and 1.5 litres of chang’aa,” NPS said on Sunday.

In a separate incident in Murang’a County, police officers patrolling the Mbombo area arrested a woman suspected of trafficking narcotic drugs.

Authorities said the suspect was found carrying 118 rolls of bhang packed inside a black polythene bag together with Ksh.1,235 believed to have been proceeds from the illegal trade.

The two suspects were taken into police custody and are expected to be arraigned in court as investigations continue.

The latest arrests come amid an ongoing nationwide crackdown by police and other security agencies targeting the sale, distribution and consumption of illegal substances in different parts of the country.
