Lands Official Arraigned Over Alleged Bribery in Uasin Gishu Land Subdivision Case

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested and arraigned a clerical officer attached to the Uasin Gishu Lands Office over allegations of soliciting and receiving a bribe to facilitate the subdivision of land.

The accused, Noah Kipkemboi Rotich, was presented before court and charged with receiving a bribe contrary to the Bribery Act, 2016.

According to the EACC, the case originated from a complaint alleging that the officer had demanded a bribe to facilitate a land subdivision process. Investigations established that he allegedly solicited Ksh100,000 from the complainant and received part of the amount.

“The case arose from a complaint received by the Commission alleging that Rotich had demanded a bribe to facilitate the subdivision process. Investigations established that he had solicited Kes100,000 from the complainant and received part of the bribe,” EACC said.

Following the completion of investigations, the Commission forwarded the file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), who approved the prosecution.

The court granted Rotich cash bail of Ksh30,000 or an alternative bond of Ksh100,000 pending further hearing.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission reiterated its commitment to combating corruption and promoting integrity in public service.
