KeNHA Issues Traffic Advisory Over Mombasa Road Closure

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a temporary partial closure of a section of Mombasa Road (A8) at the Eastern Bypass Junction ramp to allow for ongoing construction works.

In a notice issued on Tuesday, the authority said the Mombasa-bound lanes at the junction will be affected from June 30, 2026, to July 7, 2026, to facilitate the construction of a box culvert.

Motorists using the affected stretch and intending to access the Eastern Bypass via the ramp after the overpass bridge have been advised to bypass the closed section and use a designated diversion route before reconnecting with the ramp further ahead.

“Motorists are advised to drive right past the closed ramp and turn left onto a diversion and reconnect with the ramp further ahead to join the Bypass,” the notice reads.

The authority further urged road users to exercise caution, adhere to the traffic management plan in place, and cooperate with police officers and traffic marshals deployed along the affected section.

“Motorists are further advised to approach the affected section with caution, follow the proposed traffic management plan as well as cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” KeNHA said.

KeNHA said the closure is necessary to ensure the safe and efficient completion of the infrastructure upgrade works and minimise long-term disruptions along the busy corridor.

Motorists have been advised to plan their journeys in advance to avoid delays during the construction period.
