Faith Odhiambo Joins Nairobi Woman Rep Race Ahead of 2027 Polls

Former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo has formally joined the race for the Nairobi Woman Representative seat, adding a new name to what is shaping up to be a competitive contest ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Her political bid was announced by Siaya Governor James Orengo, who welcomed her into the Linda Mwananchi movement and expressed confidence in her ability to represent the interests of Nairobi residents.

“Faith Odhiambo is a proven defender of justice whose fearless stand for Gen Z and peaceful protestors showed the true meaning of leadership,” Orengo said.

He described Odhiambo’s entry into the race as a boost for women’s leadership and the movement’s push for governance centred on the needs of ordinary citizens.

“Her decision to join the Linda Mwananchi movement is a monumental win for women’s leadership and our collective struggle for the ordinary citizen.”
Orengo further argued that the capital city requires leaders committed to accountability and integrity, saying Odhiambo is well placed to fill that role.

“Her bid for Nairobi Woman Representative comes at the perfect time. Nairobians deserve an incorruptible voice, and Faith is exactly that,” he added.

He concluded by officially receiving the former LSK president into the movement led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna. “Welcome to the movement, Faith. Together, we are going to deliver a just and accountable capital city, ” he said.

Odhiambo’s entry into elective politics follows her recent participation in a Linda Mwananchi rally held in Thika on June 14.

Her association with the movement first became public on June 9 after Senator Sifuna introduced her as one of the leaders joining the platform, describing her as a valuable addition to a coalition advocating reforms and citizen-focused leadership.

Her decision also received support from Kitutu Chache South MP Anthony Kibagendi, who viewed her inclusion as strengthening the movement’s growing national presence.
With the 2027 elections still months away, interest in the Nairobi Woman Representative position continues to gather momentum.

Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has already declared her intention to vie for the seat, while activist Maverick Aoko has also announced her candidature.

Nominated Senator Tabitha Mutinda, who serves as the vice chair of the Senate Finance Committee, has similarly expressed interest in the position. Former Nairobi Woman Representative candidate Millicent Omanga of the DCP party is also seeking another shot at the seat after her unsuccessful bid in 2022.

The position is currently held by Esther Passaris, who is serving her third term and has already confirmed that she will not seek re-election in 2027, setting the stage for a highly contested race as political parties and movements position their preferred candidates for the capital city’s electorate.
