Morara Kebaso Ditches INJECT Party, Joins Jubilee Ahead of 2027 Polls

INJECT Party leader Morara Kebaso has confirmed that he has aligned himself with the Jubilee Party ahead of the 2027 General Election, saying the party will “remain on the shelf” for now as he works with the political formation associated with former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.

Speaking on Monday during an interview with comedian Obinna, Kebaso said the decision was informed by political realities in the Gusii region, noting that Jubilee remains the dominant party in areas such as Borabu in Nyamira County and the wider Gusii region.

“The INJECT Party will remain on the shelf. At the moment, we are working with the party of Chairman Fred Matiang’i, which is the Jubilee Party,” Kebaso said.

“In Borabu, Nyamira County and the larger Gusii region, people are accustomed to Jubilee. If you introduce another party, they may not even listen to what you have to say,” he added.

He cautioned against emotional politics, saying leaders should focus on delivering messages that resonate with voters rather than being distracted by political branding.

“You don’t want to make people emotional because they won’t even listen to the good message that you have or give you an opportunity to serve them,” he said.

Kebaso further said political disagreements are often temporary and should not prevent leaders from working together for national development.

“Leaders fight and then they agree. The politics of the day is that people have to work together to achieve a national goal. We don’t keep grudges,” he said.

He added that past misunderstandings should not hinder cooperation going forward.

“It’s true there were issues we did not understand back then, but the time has now called for us to work together,” he said.

The INJECT Party leader also urged politicians to avoid holding onto past grievances, saying leaders must remain focused on service delivery.

“If you keep remembering these things, you’ll end up carrying a bag of grudges. I have also been wronged by many people, but you move on quickly so that you’re able to serve people,” Kebaso said.

He noted that public opinion is fluid and should not dictate a leader’s direction.

“The people who support you today may criticise you tomorrow, and those criticising you today may support you tomorrow. You cannot base your leadership on what people are saying. Identify your vision, work with like-minded people and keep pushing towards it,” he said.
