Police Arrest Suspects in Separate Drug Trafficking and Robbery Cases in Malindi and Migori

Police in Malindi and Migori counties have arrested suspects linked to robbery with violence and narcotics trafficking in separate operations conducted over recent days.

In Malindi, detectives from Malindi Police Station apprehended a suspect identified as Jesmshid Kadirbakshi for his alleged involvement in robbery with violence incidents in Malindi and Mombasa.

Police said Kadirbakshi was under surveillance over his alleged role in a robbery that occurred on 11 June 2026 in Mombasa.

Investigators further allege that the suspect hired a Toyota Fielder, registration number KDQ 085R, in Malindi and used it as a getaway vehicle during criminal activities. The vehicle was later reportedly recovered following the robbery incident in Mombasa.

According to police, the suspect allegedly altered the vehicle’s number plate to KDS 223G in an attempt to evade detection.

He was traced to the Kwachocha area of Malindi, where detectives arrested him in a targeted operation. A search conducted at the time of arrest recovered a knife and a black handbag containing suspected cannabis sativa.

The suspect is in custody pending arraignment.

In a separate incident in Migori County, police arrested two suspects linked to trafficking of narcotics during an operation in the Namba area of Suna West Sub-County.

The suspects, identified as Luke Okello (35) and Steve Odero (28), were arrested following intelligence-led operations by officers from Migori Police Station.

Police said the duo was intercepted while transporting suspected cannabis sativa along Migori Road on a motorcycle registration number KMEZ 125V, a Bajaj Boxer.

Authorities further alleged that the suspects attempted to evade detection by strapping rolls of cannabis to their bodies under oversized clothing. However, police recovered 37 rolls from Odero and 77 rolls from Okello during the arrest.

The motorcycle and recovered exhibits were seized, while the suspects were taken into custody pending further processing and arraignment.
