Nigerian National Arrested in Nairobi Over Suspected Drug Trafficking

Detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit and the Transnational Organised Crime Unit have arrested a suspected drug trafficker following an operation that led to the recovery of cannabis sativa in Nairobi.

The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Nigerian national Christian Ikechukwu Uzochukwu, was arrested after intelligence-led investigations linked him to a narcotics trafficking network believed to be operating within the city.

According to investigators, detectives raided the suspect’s residence in the Kabarnet area along Ngong Road following weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering.

During a search of the house, officers recovered 33 sachets of cannabis sativa that had allegedly been neatly packaged and prepared for distribution. Detectives also recovered two passports bearing the suspect’s name, alongside other items considered relevant to the investigation.

“A thorough search of the house led to the recovery of 33 sachets of cannabis sativa neatly packed and ready for distribution. Detectives also recovered two passports bearing the suspect’s name, alongside other items,” DCI noted in a statement.

Preliminary investigations further established that the suspect was allegedly in the country illegally.

Following the arrest, the suspect was escorted to Muthaiga Police Station for processing pending arraignment in court.

The recovered narcotics have since been detained as exhibits as investigations continue into the suspected trafficking network.
