Two Arrested in DCI Crackdown on Land Fraud Syndicates in Nairobi and Mlolongo

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives have arrested two suspects linked to separate land fraud cases involving forged ownership documents and illegal property transfers in Mlolongo and Nairobi’s Westlands area.

According to investigators from the DCI Headquarters Land Fraud Investigations Unit (LFIU), the arrests follow extensive investigations into schemes targeting prime parcels of land through falsified documents and fraudulent transfers.

In the first case, detectives arrested Harrison Kabiru Mugo over an alleged plot involving forged ownership documents for a parcel of land in Mlolongo.

The investigation began after a complainant reported that unknown individuals were in possession of a fake title deed and were allegedly planning to subdivide and sell the property without the owner’s consent.

Detectives established that the suspects had orchestrated a fraudulent transfer of the land using forged documentation.

“Upon conclusion of investigations, the case file was forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), who approved the charging of Harrison Kabiru Mugo alongside three accomplices who remain at large,” DCI noted.

In a separate case, detectives arrested John Mwaura over the alleged fraudulent transfer of a land parcel located in Nairobi’s Westlands area.

The investigations were launched after the registered owners reported that the property had been irregularly transferred to another individual using suspected forged documents.

“Following comprehensive investigations, the case file was forwarded to the ODPP, which approved the prosecution of the suspects.”

This prompted the Milimani Law Courts to issue summons and later warrants of arrest.

Acting on the warrants issued on April 28, 2026, detectives launched a manhunt that led to the arrest of Mwaura at his hideout in Nairobi’s Utawala area.

The suspects are currently in custody undergoing processing pending arraignment in court.

Meanwhile, detectives have intensified efforts to trace the remaining suspects linked to the two cases as investigations continue into land fraud networks operating across the country.

The DCI reiterated its commitment to combating land fraud and protecting legitimate property owners from criminal schemes involving forged documents and illegal land transfers.
