DCI Arrests Two Suspects in Kisumu Gang Crackdown, Recovered Weapons and Narcotics

Security agencies have intensified operations against organised criminal gangs in Kisumu following the arrest of two suspects in a coordinated intelligence-led operation conducted by detectives from DCI headquarters alongside officers based in the region.

In the first arrest, Gabriel Oyuga Nyaoke, also known as Omar, was intercepted at Guba Centre while allegedly heading towards Kisumu Town.

A search conducted at the scene led to the recovery of a small black bag containing a tear gas canister and twenty rolls of cannabis (bhang), items suspected to be linked to illicit activity.

In a separate but related operation, Collins Omondi, a resident of the Riat area, was arrested after detectives searched his vehicle and allegedly recovered several identification cards, a tear gas canister, a knife, holsters, and five rounds of 7.62×39 mm special ammunition.

Authorities say both suspects are currently in custody undergoing processing ahead of their arraignment in court.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has reiterated its commitment to dismantling organised criminal networks in Kisumu and other parts of the country.

DCI also noted that intelligence-driven operations will continue to target individuals linked to gang activity and illegal possession of weapons and narcotics.
