DCI Probes Ruai Land Ownership Dispute Amid Competing Claims

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched an inquiry into a land ownership dispute in Ruai, Nairobi, following competing claims over a parcel of land under development.

In a statement issued by the Investigative agency, a complainant identified as Catherine Wanderi, had reported the matter at the DCI offices in Ruai, alleging that an unidentified individual had begun construction on her land.

“The complainant, Catherine Wanderi, initially reported the matter at DCI Ruai on April 24, 2026, stating that an unidentified individual had commenced construction on her parcel of land,” DCI noted.

The DCI however stated that Wanderi reportedly left the station before completing the process. The matter later gained public attention after a video circulated online claiming the land had been unlawfully taken.

DCI confirmed that detectives handling the case have since summoned Abdilatif Abdikadir, the individual linked to the construction, who recorded a statement on May 2, 2026.

“He presented documentation, including a lease certificate, and indicated that he purchased the property in 2017 through a formal transaction facilitated by Embakasi Ranching Company,” DCI said adding that Abdikadir has been directed to halt all construction activities pending the conclusion of investigations.

Wanderi has also since recorded her statement and submitted supporting documents, including a share certificate from Embakasi Ranching Company.

The DCI has opened an inquiry file to establish the rightful ownership of the land, assuring both parties of a fair and impartial investigation.

Members of the public have been urged to avoid speculation and rely on verified findings as the probe continues.
