Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary and Presidential Advisor Moses Kuria has declared his intention to vie for Gatundu South parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election, on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket.

Speaking on Wednesday during an interview with Citizen TV’s Jeff Koinange, Kuria confirmed that his bid for the Gatundu South seat in the 2027 General Election is part of a broader plan to position himself for a presidential run in 2032.
The announcement marks his return to elective politics, after serving in senior government roles. Kuria affirmed his optimism about succeeding President William Ruto after the completion of his second term.
“I want to have fun, I’m going to vie for the Gatundu South MP seat where it all began. Right now, I have joined the UDA party because I will be running for president in 2032,” Kuria said.
Moses Kuria was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Gatundu South Constituency in August 2014 through a by-election, running unopposed on a The National Alliance (TNA) party ticket following the death of the incumbent, Jossy Ngugi.
He was subsequently re-elected in the 2017 general elections on a Jubilee Party ticket, serving until 2022.
Kuria previously served in President Ruto’s Cabinet, holding positions in Public Service and Trade before his exit during a period of heightened public unrest driven by Gen Z-led protests. He was subsequently appointed as a Senior Advisor within the Council of Economic Advisors.
