Moses Wekesa assumes role as Kenya Airports Authority Managing Director

Mr. Moses Wekesa has officially assumed his role as the Managing Director of the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), taking over from Dr. Mohamud Gedi, who has been serving in an acting capacity.

The handover ceremony took place on Friday morning, and was overseen by the Authority’s Board, which thanked Dr. Gedi for his service at KAA.

“The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) marks a leadership transition as Dr. Mohamud Gedi officially handed over to Mr. Moses Wekesa, who assumes office as the Authority’s substantive Managing Director/CEO with effect from 17th April 2026,” KAA said on X platform.

“The handover ceremony was overseen this morning by the Board. The Board, Management, and staff of KAA express their appreciation to Dr. Mohamud Gedi for his dedicated service and leadership during the acting period,” the Authority stated.

KAA also congratulated Mr. Wekesa on his appointment, stating that his experience and leadership will be instrumental in advancing the authority’s strategic objectives and strengthening service delivery in the aviation sector.

“We take this opportunity to congratulate Mr. Moses Wekesa on his appointment & look forward to his stewardship in advancing KAA’s mandate of developing, managing, & operating safe, secure, & efficient airports across the authority’s aerodrome network.”

Moses Wekesa was appointed as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Kenya Airports Authority on April 14, 2026,  following a competitive recruitment process, with the board citing his experience in managing large-scale projects across multiple regions, including Europe, Asia, the Pacific, and Africa.

Wekesa previously served as Business Development Director at KenGen, where he was involved in driving growth in the company’s core operations.
