Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the brutal assault on Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, who was attacked by a group of armed individuals in Kisumu town on Wednesday.

The DCI said the suspects were apprehended following investigations into the incident that occurred at Java House West End Mall, where the senator was assaulted.
The Director of Criminal Investigations, Mohamed Amin confirmed the arrests, stating that the suspects were picked up in Kisumu’s Manyatta and Nyalenda areas.
“We have three suspects who participated in the attack, and the hunt on more is ongoing,” Amin said.
One of the detained individuals was captured on security cameras kicking and stepping on the senator as he lay on the ground during the attack.
Amin assured Kenyans that authorities are committed to apprehending all those involved, regardless of their status.
The attack has sparked widespread condemnation, with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) terming it a grave threat to democratic values. ODM leader Oburu Odinga expressed deep concern, wishing the senator a speedy recovery and urging authorities to bring perpetrators to justice.
“Such acts of aggression are an affront to the democratic gains we have fought so hard to secure for this nation,” Odinga stated.
The assault on Senator Osotsi has raised concerns over political intolerance and security of public officials, drawing condemnation from leaders across the political divide.
Osotsi was flown to Nairobi for further treatment after the attack.
