Angry residents in Luanda town, Vihiga County took to the streets on Thursday, demanding justice for the brutal assault on Vihiga Senator Osotsi, who was attacked by a group of armed gang members in Kisumu city on Wednesday.

The protesters, who marched along the busy highway, lit bonfires and waved twigs as they chanted slogans condemning the attack.

The demonstration, which began in the morning, paralysed transport for several hours, forcing motorists to seek alternative routes.

“We know the people who beat our Senator. We have enough evidence, and we are ready to bring forward the evidence. As the people of Vihiga, we will not relax seeing one of us being beaten,” said one of the protesters, echoing the sentiments of the community.

According to eyewitnesses, Osotsi had visited the Acacia area for a haircut and was interacting with the public at a Java restaurant when the incident occurred.

A group of gun-wielding individuals confronted him, questioning his political allegiance before assaulting him. The Senator is currently nursing injuries and receiving treatment.

The attack has sparked widespread outrage, with residents demanding swift action from authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The protesters have vowed to continue demonstrating until their demands are met, insisting that they will not rest until those responsible for the attack are held accountable.
