KUCCPS Opens Portal for 2026 University and College Placement

The government has officially opened the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) portal for the 2026/2027 academic year, inviting eligible students to apply for courses in universities and colleges across the country.

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba made the announcement on Tuesday, April 7, following a closed-door briefing with KUCCPS officials.

Ogamba urged candidates who sat the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination to submit their applications through the official KUCCPS portal.

He encouraged students who attained a minimum grade of C+ to apply for degree programmes of their choice.

“This afternoon, I received a brief on the 2026/2027 Academic Year placement cycle from KUCCPS. The KUCCPS team, led by the Board Chair, Cyrus Gituai and the CEO, Agnes Wahome, apprised me of the preparations for this cycle’s placement,” Ogamba said.

He confirmed that the application window will remain open for four weeks, closing on May 6, 2026, giving candidates ample time to review available programmes and make informed choices.

“The placement cycle has officially opened today, with the KUCCPS placement portal remaining open until May 6, 2026,” he added.

KUCCPS plays a central role in placing qualified students into higher learning institutions, ensuring a transparent and merit-based allocation process.

The opening of the portal marks a key step for thousands of KCSE candidates seeking admission into universities and colleges for the upcoming academic year.

Education stakeholders have consistently encouraged applicants to carefully consider their course selections in line with their performance and career aspirations before submitting their choices.

The ministry has not indicated any changes to the placement criteria, maintaining the C+ minimum requirement for degree courses, while other programmes remain accessible to students with different grade.
