In a statement posted on her socials on Wednesday April 1, 2026, Governor Ndeti addressed the recent statements and events involving Kioko and the concerns raised regarding alleged non-payment for supplies made to the County Government.

At the onset, the governor clarified that county records do not recognize Kioko as a registered supplier, explaining that the uniforms in question were officially supplied by another entity.

“Our records indicate that Mr Sammy Kioko is not a registered supplier of the County Government of Machakos. The entity that supplied Inspectorate uniforms is Movata Designs,” stated Governor Ndeti.

Comedian Sammy Kioko has alleged that the Machakos County government owes him Ksh19 million for supplying inspectorate uniforms, commonly referred to as Kanjo uniforms.

According to the governor, individuals seeking payment on behalf of a company must present proper legal authority, such as a power of attorney or formal appointment documents, to confirm they are acting legitimately.

The county government acknowledged that Movata Designs delivered part of the uniforms toward the end of the 2023/2024 financial year, which made it difficult to complete inspection and formal acceptance within the required timelines.

As a result, the payment could not be processed immediately and was instead recorded as a pending bill, subject to verification under public finance regulations.

“Our records indicate that Mr. Sammy Kioko is not a registered supplier of the County Government of Machakos. The entity that supplied Inspectorate uniforms is Movata Designs. For any individual to lawfully act on behalf of the company, proper legal authorization must be presented,” she said.

To streamline the process, Governor Ndeti formed a Pending Bills Committee tasked with reviewing outstanding claims and confirming whether they meet legal and financial requirements before approval.

Her statement followed a March 31 incident in Machakos Town, where Kioko was allegedly assaulted during a protest over the dispute. He was later admitted to Nairobi West Hospital after initial treatment at Athi River Level 4 Hospital and Kang’undo Level 4 Hospital.
