The Ministry of Interior and National Administration has moved to ban the use of drones in designated areas during the ongoing World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally Kenya 2026 in Naivasha, Nakuru County.

In a spectator safety advisory issued on Friday morning, the Ministry cautioned that it was unauthorized to use drones or flash photography.
“The use of drones is not permitted in designated areas within Naivasha and surrounding areas during the World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally Kenya 2026,” the Ministry announced.
The advisory also highlighted measures for spectators attending the event, urging strict adherence to Spectator Safety Guidelines and respect to laid-down rules.
According to the Ministry, spectators should follow instructions from marshals and security officers and watch from designated spectator zones only.
Attendees are also urged to arrive early as roads close before stages begin. They should also stand well clear of the rally road. Drivers are also advised to park vehicles only in approved areas.
The notice further encouraged spectators to carry water, sun protection, and comfortable footwear, dispose waste responsibly to protect the environment and respect local communities and property in the areas hosting the rally.
The Ministry of Interior also warned against standing on the rally road and crossing the road during a live stage.
Further to the list of don’ts, spectators were cautioned against accessing restricted or unsafe areas and blocking access routes for emergency vehicles.
At the same time, spectators are prohibited from using unauthorized drones or flash photography near rally cars.
In addition, the ministry warned against lighting fires, damaging the environment, or engaging in disorderly behaviour.
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki on Thursday flagged off the four-day, 20-stage WRC Safari Rally at the Wildlife Training and Research Institute (WTRI) in Naivasha, Nakuru County.
Kindiki said the government has deployed sufficient resources and security to guarantee a smooth and thrilling 2026 Safari Rally.
