Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced temporary traffic disruption at Globe Roundabout along Thika Superhighway.

In a public notice issued on Thursday, March 13, 2026, KeNHA stated that the temporary disruption is to enable reinstatement works at the Nairobi River bridge which is located near the busy roundabout.
The disruption of the traffic flow, which began on Thursday, March 12 and is expected to end on Thursday March 19, 2026, will see motorists using Thika road experience heavy traffic.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority would like to inform the public that the Thika Superhighway shall be partially closed at the Globe Roundabout to enable the reinstatement works at the Nairobi River bridge,” KeNHA stated.
KeNHA further advised motorists to plan their journeys in advance and follow the designated traffic diversions during the construction period.
As per the Authority’s notice, motorists heading to Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) from Thika town are advised to use the Globe Overpass.
At the same time, drivers heading to University Way from Thika will use Prof Wangari Maathai Road, while those travelling from Thika to Kirinyaga road and OTC to use Ring road.
Traffic from Kipande road to Nairobi’s CBD to use Limuru road (Fig Tree) then join Prof Wangari Maathai road. Meanwhile, drivers from University Way/CBD intending to make a U-turn at Globe roundabout to head to Guru Nanak U-turn.
KeNHA further noted that additional traffic control measures, lane management or diversions may be introduced as technical investigations and stabilization works progress.
Motorists were urged to drive cautiously and cooperate with traffic police officers and marshals deployed along the affected sections to ensure smooth traffic flow.
“Motorists are requested to exercise caution around the work areas and follow the proposed traffic management plan below as well as cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” KeNHA advised.
